What is an outside and inside bet in roulette?
Let's start with outside bets. They can be split into even money bets and 2 to 1 bets: Even money betting (wins are paid out 1 to 1) Red or Black - A bet on all 18 black numbers or 18 red numbers. Odd or Even - You bet on the 18 odd numbers or even numbers. Highs/Lows - You can place your bet on numbers 1 to 18 or 19 to 36. Bets 2 to 1 Dozens - The Roulette wheel features 3x dozen numbers, and you can bet on numbers 1 to 12, 13 to 24 and 25 to 36. Columns - You can also bet on 12 numbers by betting on one of the three columns with 12 numbers each. And now, the inside bets: Lines - you bet on two lines of three numbers (six numbers). Payout: 5 to 1. Place chips on the shared outer edge of the two lines you wish to bet on. First Four / Five (Basket bet) - You bet on the numbers 0, 1, 2 and 3 (in European roulette) or 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3 in American roulette. Payout: 6 to 1 (American) / 8 to 1 (European). Place the chips on the line shared between the zero and the other numbers. Square / Corner – You can place chips on four adjacent numbers, forming a square. Payout: 8 to 1. Place the chips at the point where the four numbers intersect. Three numbers / Street - A three number bet where you bet on a line of three numbers. Payout: 11 to 1. Place chips in the center of the line at the end of the line. Trio – A bet on 3 adjacent numbers. Payout: 17 to 1. Place the chips on the line separating the numbers. Two numbers / Split – A bet on two adjacent numbers. Payout: 17 to 1. Place the chips on the line separating the numbers. Single number / Straight up – You bet on a specific single number. Payout: 35 to 1. Place chips in the center of the number.
